5 Reasons to Use a Travel Agent

2

Like most people, I had never even thought about using a travel agent. I assumed a travel agent would be expensive and I didn’t want to spend more of my travel budget.

If you are anything like me, you do all the work planning and preparing for your vacations. This could result in lots of wasted time, and we all know the saying “time is money”. The whole process can be a bit exhausting.

First, you have to decide where you want to travel. Hopefully, you will get the lead on choosing the destination. If you have several opinions to appease, good luck!

Next, you have to choose the perfect hotel! Sounds like fun huh? WRONG! With SO many options to choose from such as; hotel websites, trip websites, and Air B&B you will be doing a TON of research!

Finally, you’ve booked your hotel and you can relax, right? Not quite, after spending all that time comparing hotel rates, NOW you get the privilege of booking a flight. I think you get the point.

Travel using a travel agent

Why Did I Decide to Use a Travel Agent

Jason (my SO) and I have discussed taking a vacation for quite some time. ‘Recently, a Facebook friend of mine posted that she started a new travel agency. I sent her a quick message and we progressed from there.

I was completely shocked how easy the entire process was! Here are the top 5 reason you should consider using a travel agent to book your next a vacation:

1. There was no fee to use the travel agent.

The FIRST question I asked my friend about the process was, “How much is your fee?”. Imagine how shook I was when she said “There is no fee.”

I bet you are thinking exactly what I was thinking! “What’s the catch!?” Right?! There is none. Travel agents are compensated via commissions from airlines, hotels, and other vendors.

2. It was stress free.

All I had to do was tell her:

  • The State we wanted to visit.
  • Brief details about what we were looking for.
  • Travel date
  • The budget

Most importantly, within 24 hours she sent me a list of 6 different options with airfare, hotel, and fees included.

3. They can book your entire itinerary

Therefore, if you would like to book additional excursions or fun activities, your travel agent will take care of it for you.

4. Your own personal advocate

For example, if anything goes wrong on your trip, you can reach out to your travel agent and he or she will work on your behalf to guarantee everything will be handled in a timely manner. The best part is, you won’t have to be in the middle of the drama.

5. Cost

The cost for both of us was very reasonable. It was half of what we budgeted for. Travel agents can negotiate prices for you. As a result, you may receive savings that you may not have qualified for if you booked your own vacation.

These are my top reasons to use a travel agent. Have you ever used a travel agent? If so, what did you like most about your experience? If you have never used a travel agent, would you consider using one now? What has stopped you from using a travel agent in the past?
